IBM COGNOS LATEST NEWS
IBM launches new mashup tools for Cognos
IBM has launched a new mashup service for its Cognos 8 business intelligence suite today, as well as updated its Mashup Centre software to plug into more enterprise sources. The new offering, soberly called IBM Cognos 8 Mashup Service, is an application programming interface (API) that exposes content from the Cognos platform as a web service so it can be used by other business applications, data models, or mashups. IBM INFORMATION ON DEMAND (IOD)
We sent our Technology Strategist and Solution Architect, Brad Culbert to the Information on Demand global conference in Las Vegas, USA in October last year (2009). The event showcased IBM’s vision of turning information into a strategic driver of innovation, business optimisation and competitive differentiation. During his time at IOD, Brad mixed with over 6000 IBM customers, partners and executives, looking for ways Bistech customers can gain additional value from their IBM Cognos investments. He also did some gazing into the crystal ball of emerging technologies and industry trends that will affect us all.
Keep an eye out in early 2010 as Brad will be running a series of Performance Management Meetings in our Queen St Boardroom presenting information session that positions the Information On Demand agenda in a pragmatic manner to give IBM Cognos customers an understanding of the “broader picture” and insight into solutions, methods and technologies that are available to further enhance their current Performance Management deployment. If you would like more information about attending one of these sessions please contact Shane Morgan on phone 3230 0377 or email shane@bistech.com.au
TIP OF THE SEASON
Cognos VM Environment
We are noticing a growing trend towards virtualisation of Cognos environments amongst our client organisations. It is also common for the system administrator to over-allocate resources from their virtualised resource pool to the environment by more than 10%. In addition, you could improve the performance of the Cognos Virtual Machine by giving its processes high Priority, and reserve for it at least 500MB of memory and 500 GHz of CPU.
